Vice-president – Daria Holdenried-Chernoff

My name is Daria and I’m a second year physicist from Sidney Sussex.

I’ve been involved with the Italian Society for the past two years and am currently a member of the committee (Sponsorship officer). I’m familiar with how to run the society and am passionate about promoting Italian culture throughout the university.

Next year I plan to help the new president focus on a variety of items:

  • Maintaining a regular calendar of events (e.g. cinema nights and socials);
  • Organising conversation nights for people who would like to practice their Italian;
  • Collaborating more with other societies within Cambridge, and with Italian societies in other UK universities.

The Italian society has been an important part of my student life; I’ve regularly attended events, participated in the society’s theatre production and helped in the administration. I’ve really enjoyed having a little piece of Italy in Cambridge and I’d like to share this experience with anyone else who would like to be part of our extended Italian family!
