Annual Giulio Regeni Memorial Lecture
To honour the memory of Giulio Regeni 4 years after his kidnap and murder in Cairo, the 2020 Cambridge University Italian Society committee decided to institute an annual Giulio Regeni Memorial Lecture.
18 Feb 2020 – Giulio Regeni Memorial Lecture delivered by Dr Faiz Sheikh (POLIS Dept. – University of Cambridge) on ‘Hot air or hot topic: The Organization of Islamic Cooperation in contemporary politics’
12 Feb 2021 – “Giulio fa cose”. Online interview with Paola Deffendi and Claudio Regeni by Laura Langone.
25 Jan 2022 – Giulio Regeni Memorial Lecture delivered by Dr Elisabetta Brighi (University of Westminster) on ‘Illusions of democracy – Europe and Egypt between interests, rights, and violence’.
3 May 2023 – Giulio Regeni Memorial Lecture delivered by Prof. John Chalcraft (London School of Economics and Political Science) on ‘Popular Mobilisation in Gramscian Perspective’.
