Social Events

Our social events are at the heart of the Society – from our iconic aperitivi and relaxed pizza nights to true Cambridge formal dinners and swaps. They are a great way to meet other members, celebrate key moments in the academic calendar and experience Cambridge life together.

Guest Speakers & Conferences

Throughout the year, the Cambridge University Italian Society welcomes distinguished guest speakers from academia, public life, culture, science and the professions to share their work, ideas and experiences with our members.

The Society also organises conferences bringing together academics, professionals and invited speakers to explore topics relating to Italy and the wider international community.

Cinema & Literature

Cinema: Our CineForum celebrates Italian cinema through screenings of classic and contemporary films, offering members the chance to discover different periods, genres and voices in Italian filmmaking.

LetteralMente: Our Book Club brings together readers interested in Italian literature, from classic works to contemporary writing. Meetings offer an informal space to discuss books, authors and ideas while exploring Italy’s literary culture.

Italian Theatre

Since 2013, we have been organising plays under the supervision of Italian actor and director Ludovico Nolfi. He kindly granted us an interview to talk about his passion for theatre, professional experience, and future projects.

Over the years, our productions have included works by authors such as Luigi Pirandello, Eduardo De Filippo, Niccolò Machiavelli and Dario Fo, as well as performances inspired by Italian storytelling and literature.

Our theatre programme has also included collaborations with professional actors and theatre companies. These include performances with Paolo Panaro, such as La Favola de Zoza, and with Compagnia Teatrale Tiberio Fiorilli, including Colpi di maschera.

Stay tuned for the recruitment of this year’s cast of actors! Everyone is welcome and no previous experience is required to participate to the Theatre Workshops.

Giulio Regeni Annual Lecture
